BAU International University Batumi Academics Participated in the International Mobility Programme within Inha University Hospital

BAU International University Batumi continued its efforts to develop academic relations in the Far East region in South Korea. The university's academic staff representatives, Assistant Professor Natia Kharati and Prof. Mario Ganau, participated in the international mobility programme held within Inha University Hospital. The visit, announced on 17 July 2026, aimed to support the sharing of experience in the fields of modern medical education and clinical practice, and to strengthen academic contact between the two institutions.

Within the scope of the programme, Kharati and Ganau participated in educational activities organised by Inha University Hospital. Examining the educational and research activities of the hospital, the academics had the opportunity to work in a clinical setting alongside their Korean colleagues. This process allowed participants to observe different teaching methods and current clinical approaches on-site. The South Korea visit also offered an important area of study in terms of seeing how theoretical knowledge and practices within the hospital are integrated.

International academic mobility in the field of medicine provided academics with the opportunity to closely familiarise themselves with different healthcare systems, educational models, and research environments. Modern medical education, in particular, was addressed within a structure where clinical experience, scientific research, and classroom teaching progress together. The hospital-centred mobility programme also created a direct learning environment supporting the professional development of the academic staff. The observations gained during the programme contributed to the comparison of teaching methods and the evaluation of different clinical approaches.

The contact between BAU International University Batumi and Inha University Hospital previously included student mobility as well. The university announced in 2025 that Handenur Tarhan, a student of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, would travel to South Korea for her clinical practice in general surgery. In February 2026, calls for a one-month clinical practice for students and a two-week training mobility for academic staff were published. In both calls, it was stated that after the candidates were nominated by the university, the final selection would be made by the partner institution. These steps demonstrated that the cooperation between the two institutions is being maintained in the fields of clinical practice and academic education.

The programme attended by Natia Kharati and Mario Ganau revealed that BAU International University Batumi supports its international collaborations with direct educational and professional experiences. The observations gained during the visit to Inha University Hospital paved the way for knowledge sharing between the institutions on modern medical education and contributed to the development of the academics' professional competencies.

The mobility programme carried out in South Korea was also an important step in terms of developing long-term academic relations. Creating new learning opportunities for students and academics, the visit strengthened the university's connection with international education and research networks. BAU International University Batumi, through Kharati and Ganau's participation in the Inha University Hospital programme, expanded its international experience-sharing in the fields of medical education, research, and clinical practice.
