BAU International University Batumi Stood Out with its Scientific Research at GSCBH 2026

The academic staff and students of BAU International University Batumi shared their scientific studies with the international academic community as part of the 2nd Global Symposium on Chemistry, Biochemistry and Health Sciences (GSCBH 2026), hosted by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University on 23–24 July 2026. Bringing together the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, biotechnology, environmental protection and human health, the symposium was held with the participation of scientists, researchers and students from various countries.
In addition to sharing current scientific research, GSCBH 2026 provided an important academic meeting environment where experts from different disciplines shared their knowledge and experiences. Representatives of BAU International University Batumi also took part in the symposium programme with oral presentations and poster studies.
Dr Aleksandra Mikhailidi delivered two separate oral presentations within the scope of the symposium. In her study titled "Structural Gaps Between School Chemistry and Medical Biochemistry", she addressed the structural differences between school-level chemistry education and medical biochemistry. Mikhailidi's second presentation, "Sustainable Cellulose Hydrogels as Soil Amendments and Soilless Substrates", focused on the use of sustainable cellulose hydrogels as soil-conditioning materials and soilless growing media.
Dr Elisabed Kvergelidze, one of the academics at BAU International University Batumi, shared her research titled "Triiodothyronine αvβ3 Integrin-Mediated Action on the JAK/STAT Signaling Pathway" with the participants. The study scientifically addressed the effect of triiodothyronine on the JAK/STAT signalling pathway mediated by αvβ3 integrin.
BAU International University Batumi students also had the opportunity to present their research studies at the symposium. Medical programme students Hamad Asghar and Huzair Asghar shared two poster presentations prepared under the supervision of Dr Aleksandra Mikhailidi with the academic community. The study titled "Antibacterial Activity of Sustainable Cellulose/Ag Composite Hydrogels for Wound Dressings" focused on the antibacterial potential of sustainable composite hydrogels containing cellulose and silver in wound dressings.
The students' second study, "Preliminary Evaluation of Plant Extracts for Green Synthesis of Silver-Containing Cellulose Hydrogels", evaluated the use of plant extracts in the synthesis of silver-containing cellulose hydrogels using environmentally sensitive methods.
The participation of BAU International University Batumi's academics and students in GSCBH 2026 brought the university's scientific research culture, student-academic cooperation and academic production in various research areas, particularly in health sciences, to an international platform.
