International Academic Mobility Visit to the UK by Academics from BAU International University Batumi

BAU International University Batumi continued its activities to support the professional development and international experience of its academic staff with an academic mobility programme carried out in the UK. Between 8 and 15 March 2026, the university's assistant professors Darina Mskhaladze, Teona Tsintsadze and Tamila Dilaverova visited the UK as part of the international mobility programme. The visit, carried out with the co-financing support of the university, aimed to strengthen the professional competences of the academic staff, familiarise them with modern pedagogical approaches, and bring innovative teaching practices into their educational processes.
International Professional Development for Academic Staff
International academic mobility programmes allow teaching staff to closely examine different educational systems and get acquainted with contemporary teaching methods. The UK visit of BAU International University Batumi academics also offered a comprehensive experience supporting academic development in this direction.
Within the scope of the programme, the participants attended the professional development training organised at Buxwood School. During the training, contemporary methods used in teaching English as a foreign language, the use of innovative technologies in education, the key characteristics of the UK education system, and modern classroom management strategies were discussed.
Innovative Teaching Methods and Educational Technologies
Today, the effective integration of educational technologies into course processes is becoming increasingly important in terms of increasing student engagement and responding to diverse learning needs. In the professional development programme in the UK, academics evaluated contemporary teaching models and different practices for the use of technology in educational environments.
Current approaches to foreign language teaching were also among the highlights of the programme. Participants gained new perspectives on student-centred learning, classroom interaction, and structuring the teaching process more efficiently by examining the methods used in teaching English as a foreign language.
A Closer Look at the UK Education System
The programme allowed academics to get to know the UK education system closely. Examining the educational structure, teaching environments, and classroom management practices supported participants in comparing different pedagogical approaches.
Within the scope of modern classroom management strategies, methods for supporting students' active participation in lessons, establishing effective communication, and managing the learning environment efficiently were evaluated. These experiences formed an important area of professional development for academics to address their own course processes from different perspectives.
Continuous Improvement of Education Quality at BAU Batumi
BAU International University Batumi positions the acquisition of international experience and the development of professional competences by academic staff among the key elements of sustainably increasing educational quality. International mobility activities support academics in getting to know global educational approaches, benefiting from the experiences of different institutions, and transferring the knowledge they acquire to their own academic work.
This visit to the UK supported the professional development of the academic staff while also strengthening the university's approach to internationalisation. Sharing experiences gained from different educational systems, disseminating innovative teaching methods, and establishing new connections among academic circles contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching quality.
Such international programmes strengthen knowledge sharing within the institution in addition to individual professional development. Transferring the new methods and approaches acquired by academics into educational processes supports students in meeting more up-to-date, interactive, and inclusive learning experiences.
BAU International University Batumi continues to develop the global perspective of its teaching staff, support innovative educational practices, and continuously strengthen the quality of education offered to its students through international academic mobility activities.
In this direction, international experiences go beyond individual gains and transform into a shared learning resource supporting pedagogical development throughout the university. The close follow-up of contemporary educational trends by academic staff, the evaluation of new teaching methods, and the transfer of their international experiences into the academic processes within the institution directly contribute to the educational quality and academic development of BAU International University Batumi.
