BAU International University Batumi Took Part in the Laboratory Medicine Conference

BAU International University Batumi took part in a significant scientific event bringing together medical education, laboratory medicine and international academic cooperation. The international conference entitled “Laboratory Medicine Education Methodology and Modern Trends and Future Perspectives in Clinical Practice”, organised by Tbilisi State Medical University, the Association of Laboratory Medicine Management and Development of Georgia, and the Ivane Tarkhnishvili Scientific Society, brought together experts from Georgia and different countries on the same academic platform.
International Academic Cooperation in Medical Education
The opening speeches of the conference were delivered by the Rector of BAU International University Batumi, Irine Imerlishvili, and the Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Irakli Natroshvili. The opening section focused on the current needs of medical education, the development of cooperation between academic institutions, and the strengthening of international scientific communication.
The constantly evolving nature of medical education makes the sharing of knowledge and experience between universities increasingly important. In this context, the conference provided a strong foundation for comparing different academic approaches, evaluating modern education methods, and bringing together health sciences specialists around common agendas.
Modern Approaches in Laboratory Medicine Education
As part of the conference programme, Professor Maka Buleishvili, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at BAU International University Batumi, gave a presentation addressing modern approaches to the teaching of laboratory medicine. The presentation evaluated the effective integration of laboratory medicine education with clinical practice, current teaching methods, and educational models supporting students' professional competence.
Laboratory medicine plays a fundamental role in supporting diagnostic processes with scientific data. For this reason, enabling students to correlate laboratory findings with clinical processes, transfer their theoretical knowledge to practical environments, and follow current diagnostic approaches are among the important components of medical education.
Research, Education and Clinical Practice on the Same Platform
The international conference also provided space for the evaluation of current issues in research and clinical practice, alongside laboratory medicine education. The sessions, held with the participation of Georgian and international experts, enabled the sharing of different experiences and addressed the multifaceted nature of laboratory medicine extending from education to clinical practice.
Scientific meetings support academics in sharing research results, discussing new methods, and communicating with experts from different institutions. The international structure of the conference also contributed to strengthening a common scientific approach in the fields of medical education and laboratory medicine.
Scientific and Academic Representation of BAU Batumi
The academic representation of BAU International University Batumi at the conference was a significant step in bringing the university's scientific studies in the fields of medicine and health sciences to international platforms. The opening speech by Rector Irine Imerlishvili and the scientific presentation by Professor Maka Buleishvili demonstrated the importance the university places on medical education, research, and academic cooperation.
The university continues to strengthen its quality of education and research capacity through participation in international conferences, scientific research activities, and inter-institutional academic connections. This conference in the field of laboratory medicine stood out as a comprehensive academic gathering that supports scientific knowledge sharing, brings experts together, and focuses on the development of modern medical education.
The topics addressed throughout the event supported the dissemination of current methods in laboratory medicine education, the strengthening of the link between clinical practice and education, and the establishment of long-term communication among academic circles.
