International Success from BAU International University Batumi Students at the NeuroCordis Conference 2026

BAU International University Batumi Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences fifth-year students Tariq Elfateh Bushra and Sanabel Darwish, with the support of the university, attended the NeuroCordis Conference 2026 held in Tbilisi on 6 June 2026. Throughout the conference, the students actively participated in scientific sessions, hands-on workshops, and academic competitions, representing their university on an international platform.
Academic Participation at the NeuroCordis Conference 2026
The NeuroCordis Conference 2026 was organised as a scientific gathering bringing together specialists, students, and young researchers from neurosurgery and various medical fields. The conference programme included educational seminars, case discussions, practical workshops, poster presentations, and academic competitions.
Tariq Elfateh Bushra and Sanabel Darwish took an active role in both theoretical and practical work during the event. Following presentations made by doctors from different specialities, the students gained knowledge on current medical approaches and clinical practices. The programme offered a comprehensive learning environment that supported the students' academic knowledge with new experiences.
First Place in the Debate Competition
One of the highlights of the conference was the debate competition. Tariq Elfateh Bushra won first place with his academic assessment, effective communication, and argumentation skills demonstrated during the competition. This success highlighted the student's capability to address scientific topics from different perspectives, present his views in a structured manner, and actively participate in academic discussions.
The debate format provided an important practice area that develops the critical thinking and scientific communication skills of medical students. Throughout the competition, participants evaluated designated topics through an evidence-based approach and defended their views within an academic framework.
Second Place in the Poster Presentation
In the poster presentation competition organised within the scope of the conference, the student team achieved second place. The poster work highlighted the students' research skills in terms of structuring scientific knowledge, visually presenting research findings, and clearly conveying academic content.
Poster presentations create an important academic environment for young researchers to share their work with the scientific community and receive feedback from experts. The second-place achievement made the students' successful performance in the field of scientific presentation visible on an international level.
Hands-on Heart Dissection Workshop
In addition to the educational conferences given by neurosurgeons and other medical specialists, the event programme also featured a hands-on heart dissection workshop. During this work, students reinforced their theoretical knowledge with practical training by directly examining anatomical structures.
While the workshop supported the evaluation of anatomical knowledge from a clinical perspective, it also strengthened the students' practical skills and professional observation competencies. Bringing academic sessions and practical workshops together in the same programme ensured that the conference experience took on a multi-faceted structure.
Support for Student Development from BAU Batumi
BAU International University Batumi continues to strengthen students' academic and professional development by supporting their participation in national and international scientific events. The achievements of Tariq Elfateh Bushra and Sanabel Darwish at the NeuroCordis Conference 2026 served as a significant example of students showcasing their scientific knowledge, research, communication, and practical skills in an international environment.
The awards won and the experiences gained at the conference made a strong contribution to the students' academic development. BAU International University Batumi supports the multi-faceted development of future healthcare professionals by maintaining an educational approach that encourages its students towards scientific production, professional interaction, and active participation in international academic platforms.
This experience also contributed to the students evaluating different specialities together, getting to know the culture of scientific discussion closely, and shaping their professional goals more consciously. While the support provided by the university strengthened the students' visibility in international scientific circles, it constituted an important, institutionally sustained part of research-oriented medical education and academic visibility.
