BAU International University Batumi participated in the AMEE 2026 International Conference, where current approaches in health professions education were discussed. At the conference held in Vienna, the capital of Austria, on 22–26 August 2026, the university was represented by Rector Irine Imerlishvili, Vice Rector Tea Mikeladze, and academic staff representatives Irina Kokoladze and Jemal Gogitidze. The five-day event brought together academics, clinicians, researchers, administrators, and students in the field of health professions education in the same program.

The AMEE Conference is organised as one of the international gatherings where new methods, research, and practices in health professions education are shared. The 2026 programme was held at the Austria Center Vienna, and the conference included keynote speeches, panels, workshops, research presentations, and professional development sessions. The programme offered a wide range of content covering different stages of health education, from undergraduate to postgraduate education and continuous professional development.

The BAU International University Batumi delegation followed the current trends and innovative teaching approaches in medical education throughout the conference. The university representatives also had the opportunity to closely examine health education practices in different countries by participating in professional discussions and sharing experiences. This interaction opened up space to evaluate how medical education is evolving in terms of content, assessment, and teaching methods from different academic perspectives.

In the AMEE 2026 programme, the use of artificial intelligence in education was also among the current topics discussed. One of the hands-on workshops held prior to the conference focused on how artificial intelligence can add value to teaching and learning processes. In addition, topics such as competency-based education, clinical learning environments, assessment methods, student development, and quality of education were also covered in different sections of the conference programme. Thus, technological transformation and the core pedagogical issues of health education were discussed within the same academic environment.

BAU International University Batumi’s participation in AMEE 2026 also contributed to developing the university's international academic contacts in the field of health education. The communication established with educators and researchers from different countries created new areas of contact for evaluating new collaborations and comparing practices in health professions education.

The conference in Vienna offered BAU International University Batumi the opportunity to follow current developments in medical education as well as to connect its own academic studies with a wider professional community. The university's representation at AMEE 2026 became one of the current examples of continuing work on information sharing, academic connections, and innovative educational approaches in the field of health education at an international level.
