From BAU International University Batumi to Sapienza University of Rome: Erasmus+ Academic Staff Mobility

BAU International University Batumi has added a new programme to its Erasmus+ mobility activities, which support its academic staff in gaining greater exposure to international teaching and research environments. Under the Erasmus+ International Mobility Call for its affiliated academic staff, the university has launched the application process for the mobility programme to be held at Sapienza University of Rome during the spring semester of the 2026–2027 academic year.
Within the scope of the programme, one academic staff member will participate in a mobility experience at Sapienza University of Rome for five working days. The selected academic will have the opportunity to participate in international meetings, training sessions, and workshops, develop new professional networks, and engage in the academic and cultural activities of the host university. Thus, the mobility process provides a framework for academic staff to enhance their experience in their own field of study within a different university environment and to establish new collaborative networks.
The cooperation between BAU International University Batumi and Sapienza University of Rome is carried out under the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Programme. The partnership covers opportunities for professional development in international education and research environments for students, as well as academic and administrative staff. Founded in 1303, Sapienza University of Rome is among Europe's long-established higher education institutions, with a long academic history and education and research activities in the fields of medicine, biomedical sciences, and health sciences.
Applications for academic staff mobility are being accepted between 1–12 September 2026. Applicants are required to submit a Europass CV, a motivation letter, a copy of their passport, published articles, and a conceptual framework of the lectures they plan to prepare. Following the evaluation of the application documents, candidates will attend a commission interview on 15 September 2026.
The selection process proceeds with the participation of both institutions. In the first phase, BAU International University Batumi identifies the suitable candidate and nominates them to Sapienza University of Rome. The final approval is granted by the host university. The mobility grant provided under Erasmus+ fully covers the selected academic's travel and daily expenses.
This programme constitutes one of the current examples of BAU International University Batumi's internationalisation approach, which does not treat academic staff mobility merely as a short-term visit. The new connections that can be established through meetings, trainings, and academic activities open up new areas of study in terms of enhancing the teaching experience, expanding research contacts, and advancing inter-institutional academic relations.
The Erasmus+ mobility carried out with Sapienza University of Rome offers BAU International University Batumi academics the opportunity to experience a different higher education environment first-hand and to strengthen their own academic work through international connections.
